StarGuard
Purpose of the course: participants learn to recognize and respond to emergencies in and near the water.
Prerequisites: 15 years of age, the ability to swim and retrieve a submerged 10 lb. weight and return with it to the deck.
2013 Schedule and Fee:
First meeting is 4-5 p.m. on Thursday May 16, 2013 unless you have met with the trainer beforehand to pay and pick up your text. The course is hybrid: a code in the book allows the guard candidate to begin the online academics, which will be followed by pool sessions. Pool sessions will be offered May 24, 25, 26 (times TBD based on enrollment).
The fee is $200.00 payable when picking up your book.
PADI Swim School Instructor Training (powered by Starfish Aquatics Institute)
Purpose of the course: participants learn how to teach swimming to all ages including how to meet special needs.
Prerequisites: 16 years of age.
2013 Schedule and Fee:
First meeting is 4-5 p.m. on Thursday May 16, 2013 unless you have met with the trainer beforehand to pay and pick up your text. Participants will then meet 9 a.m.-5 p.m. May 20-23 and beginning at 1 p.m. on May 27-28.
The fee is $200.00 + materials payable when picking up your book or on the first day. You are advised to pick up your book early.
