Purpose of the course: participants learn to recognize and respond to emergencies in and near the water.
Prerequisites: 16 years of age, the ability to swim 300 yards, tread water, and retrieve a submerged 10 lb. weight and return with it to the deck.
Prerequisite Swim: April 1, 2016 (not fooling)
Bring verification of age.
4:30-6:00 p.m. at the ACU pool. Lifeguard candidates only please.

Fee: $5 (non-refundable if you do not pass the pre-reqs)
Those who pass will pay the course fee and receive the text download information. Candidates must have internet access. They are expected to read and study before attending the course weekend.
Course Dates: April 22-24, 2016
Detailed schedule will be received upon passing the prerequisite swims.
The 2016 course fee is $240.00 for initial certification and $110.00 for recertification. The $5 paid for the prerequisite swim will be subtracted from $240 for a balance of $235.
You must attend the entire course and pass written and performance assessments for certification.
A second Lifeguard course may be offered if there is sufficient demand and time available.
